Shorts Package: The Pink Panther

It's seems like it has been a while since I did one of these so I guess I will do another one. I will be looking at shorts starring The Pink Panther.



We Give Pink Stamps
The Pink Panther is living in a mall when he sees a janitor and tries to hide from him. The janitor sees glimpses of him making him more and more paranoid. The funniest part of this episode is the janitor's growing paranoia. There is also kind of a funny twist at the end involving a tiger rug but I won't give it away. On to the next episode.











The Pink Pill
The Pink Panther gets sent to the hospital after a mannequin falls on top of him. He ironically ends up getting more injured while he is there. One of the best parts is where he falls out of a window while a nurse is checking his blood pressure (I won't say how but it is in a very funny way).









Pink Blue Plate
The Pink Panther gets a job working at a diner next to a construction site. He keeps messing up orders which makes one construction worker as well as his boss angrier and angrier. It all builds up to a very funny ending after Pink ends up throwing a blueberry pie in the construction workers face.










The Pink Panther is a very funny show and you should definitely go and check it out if you want a good laugh. See you next week for another new review

Shorts Package: Aardman Shorts

I am back with a shorts package, this time it is Shorts from Aardman. If you don't know Aardman is the company responsible for Wallace and Gromit, Shaun the Sheep, Chicken Run and other projects. But enough chit chat let's go.



Creature Comforts: In creature comforts several different animals in a zoo are interviewed and they share their opinion on living in a zoo. I think it is clever and if animals could talk that is probably what they would say. I do admit the audio quality is a bit bad but I can forgive it because of how funny it is. Also the short is so popular it apparently spawned a web series. Over all I think my favorite short is this one.









Wat's Pig: Two princes are seperated at birth; one becomes a greedy king and the other becomes a content farmer. The King's kingdom is being invaded and it turns out that The Farmer is in the army. I like it because it shows the contrast of their lives and the use of split screens. If there is something I didn't like it's that the reason that they get separated is a bit sudden and unexplained.







Not Without my Handbag: This one is probably the weirdest short here. The plot is a girl is living with her aunt. Her aunt doesn't keep up with the payments on her washing machine so her aunt is sent to hell. Wait it gets weirder; her aunt remembers that she left her handbag in the world of the living so she comes back from the dead to find it. Wait it gets weirder; a devil comes to reclaim her soul by possessing her handbag. I think I like this simply because of how weird it is. The animation in this seems a bit different than in others. I think they might have used wood puppets instead of clay ones.





Aardman is a great company and all these shorts are worth watching you can probably watch them on the internet or find them on DVD. You should also check out the Creature Comforts web series. Well see you next tine where I review Wreck-it Ralph. P.S. I hope design of my blog.

Shorts Package: Daffy about Daffy Duck

Hello I am going to do another Shorts Package. This time it is about The Looney Tunes, specifically Daffy Duck. So without further delay I give you the first short. Oh, and since yesterday was mothers day I ran out of time while getting ready for it to draw a cartoon.

Drip-Along Daffy: Daffy Duck (Mel Blanc) and his sidekick Porky Pig (also Mel Blanc) are trying to bring order to a lawless western town. What makes this one so funny is that there is one scene in particular in which an outlaw makes a drink and forces Porky and Daffy to drink it. This causes them to sing Mary had a Little Lamb and do other crazy stuff. Another scene at the beginning involves the town being full of crime, but I won't give the punchline for that one away. It's Daffy and Porky in the old west, what more can you say?






The Ducksters: Daffy Duck is hosting a radio game show called Truth or AAAHHHHH! (brought to you by The Eagle Hand Laundry) and Porky is a contestant. But being Daffy, the show is rigged. So Porky is in constant pain. The best part of this is the end where Porky gets his revenge on Daffy. It is great fun to laugh at the ridiculous trivia questions that Daffy asks on the show. This is a great Looney Tunes short and I am glad I chose it to be one of the shorts I reviewed.






Yankee Doodle Duck: Porky Pig runs a talent agency and he decides to go on vacation but Daffy holds him up because he has a kid named Sleepy Lagoo that he wants to audition. Porky tries to escape from Daffy but he follows Porky everywhere. What makes this one so funny is all the corny musical numbers that Daffy performs and all the ways he tries to catch Porky. In my opinion this is my favorite short that I reviewed so far.

Shorts Package: TIFF Shorts

Hello here is a new thing I am doing called Shorts Package. It is where I review three shorts. Sorry about starting all these new series on my blog: you guys probably think I'm crazy, I think I'm crazy, the world thinks I'm crazy. AAAARG!!!!

Sorry about that. Anyway this time I am reviewing shorts playing at the TIFF Kids International Film Festival (April 8 to 21) at TIFF Bell Lightbox. Time for the first short.

Wallpaper: A man moves into a new house and he discovers the history of the house through layers of wallpaper.  It has a nice fantastical feel to it and the animation is pretty good too. It is simple in a very charming and creative way.






Transfolding: Paper dances around, moves, and makes pictures. That is mainly what happens in Transfolding. It is very beautiful and entrancing. But if you have a short attention span you may not want to watch paper dance for seven minutes. Other than that, this is very good.


The Numberlys: We are in a time before the alphabet and there are only numbers. After a hard day in the number factory, numbers 1 2 3 4 and 5 decide they are bored of only numbers, so they make letters. It is sort of like a cross between a Dr. Seuss book, a Looney Tunes cartoon, and a little bit of a Three Stooges comedy. Out of all the shorts I have reviewed in this post, this one is my favorite.
