A Christmas Story

For my first review for this site I shall be reviewing the classic A Christmas Story (Yes I know we're in the middle of December and not the beginning).

The film starts with a boy named Ralphie Parker (Peter Billingsley) who wants a Red Ryder BB gun for Christmas. He tries to ask is mother (Melinda Dillon) but she says “You’ll shoot your eye out”. After that Ralphie has a day dream about using the BB gun to shoot some bandits…WEIRD DAYDREAM! Later at school Ralphie learns that he has to write a theme of what I want for Christmas. At recess Raphine’s friend Schwartz (R.D. Robb) triple dog dares Ralphie’s other friend Flick (Scott Schwartz) to stick his tongue to a cold metal flagpole and it sticks.

 The kids (minus Flick) go back to school. The teacher Miss.Shields (Tedde Moore) sees Flick stuck to the pole and tries to get him off by pulling and calling the fire department. Why don’t they put hot water on his tongue--it will unfreeze it? Anyway Flick gets unstuck.  Ralphie writes the theme and says he wants the Red Ryder BB gun. He turns in the theme and has a daydream that Miss Shields is dressed like Mary Poppins and she gives Ralphie an A+ and everyone celebrates Ralphie being Awesome…WEIRD DAYDREAM!! But when the report is turned in he gets a C+ and a note says “P.S. You’ll shoot your eye out”.

On the way back from school he gets a snowball to the face thrown by resident bullies Scut Farkus(Zack Ward) and Grover Dill(Yano Anaya).Ralphie cries and the bullies taunt him until Ralphie goes bonkers bananas crazy and beats up Scut Farkus. After like two minutes of punching Scut Farkus in the face Ralphie’s mother and Brother Randy (Ian Petrella) get Ralphie out of the fight. And just leaves Scut Farkus, I mean he is a bully but he has a bloody nose he might need some help. Sorry about the rant. When Ralphie gets home he is worried that his mother will tell his father (Darren McGavin). But when his father gets home she just briefly mentions it and changes the subject.

    

    Later that night Ralphie decides to ask Santa Claus himself. So the next night on Christmas Eve after the Christmas parade they go to the mall to see Santa (Jeff Gillen) unfortunately Ralphie gets stuck at the end of the line. After a while he makes it to the front. But when Santa asks what he wants he just blankly says a football.

 But when they try to get him away he quickly tries to tell Santa that he wants a Red Ryder BB Gun. But Santa says “You’ll shoot your eye out kid" and pushes Ralphie down the slide. By the way have you guys been to a Santa Claus thing that has a slide because I have not. Now where was I? So Ralphie and randy go home with their parents to decorate the Christmas tree. The next morning on Christmas day Ralphie is ecstatic to see if he got the BB gun. But when all the Presents are unwrapped it looks like he didn't get what he wanted. But then Ralphie's father points out a package and inside is a Red Ryder BB gun. Ralphie is eager to try it out. But when he fired it bounced off the target and knocked off his glasses. At first Ralphie thought he did shoot his eye out as he tries to find his glasses but breaks them. Ralphie comes up with an excuse that an icicle fell on his glasses and broke them. And his mother believes him. Wow I sure Wouldn’t. Anyway while Ralphies mother is helping him the Bumpuses street hounds (who are Ralphies neighbor’s dogs they were in a scene before that i skipped over) break into the house and steal the Christmas turkey. So they have Christmas dinner at a Chinese restaurant. Later that night Ralphie is sleeping with is gun and considers it to be the best Gift he has ever gotten. The End

    Do you want to know what I think of the movie? Well it's obviously a classic Christmas film. I love some of the more

Cartoonish humor in it. I skipped a lot of scenes that where not important. But those scenes are still funny. It’s a Christmas classic for a reason.
