The Lorax

So I was going to review the movie Mac and Me. But it was so horrible, I could not watch it. So instead I am reviewing The Lorax. The movie is based on a book of the same name written by Dr. Seuss. Anyway, time to start my review.

The movie starts in the town of "Thneedville" where everything is fake, even the musical numbers. There's this kid named Ted (Zac Efron) who is in love with a girl named Audrey (Taylor Swift). She says she wants a tree as a gift. So Ted asks his grandmother (Betty White) and she tells Ted to go see The Once-ler (Ed Helms) if he wants a tree. So Ted escapes the town. He goes to see The Once-ler and...wait the reason all this happens is because Ted is in love...talk about bad motivation. Back to the story. The Once-ler tells Ted that the forest/world is a wasteland because of him. So The Once-ler tells Ted his story. The Once-ler was a business man who traveled the world until he found a forest full of Truffula Trees. So The Once-ler sets up shop and cuts down a tree and releases The Lorax (Danny DeVito).

Okay you know what, I am going squeeze all the flashbacks into one and some other important details. So The Lorax tries to get The Once-ler to stop cutting down trees. So later that night with the help of the Barbaloots they steal The Once-lers bed (with The Once-ler on it) and put it in the reiver. But the Once-ler goes over a waterfall and survives. There is no way that The Lorax did not know about that waterfall. Anyway using the leaves of the tree he chopped down, he makes a Thneed. At first it's unsuccessful but then it's popular. So The Once-ler calls his family to help him. His family convices him to keep chopping down trees insted of picking the leaves out.

***SPOILER ALERT STOP HERE IF YOU DON'T WANT THE END RUINED***

Then we get the song "How Bad Can I Be". In the song, we get a
montage of The Once-ler destroying the forest. Wait, now in the book and 1972 TV special a majority of the movie is The Once-ler vs. The Lorax, but in the movie it's just this one song that's Once-ler vs. Lorax. Anyway The Once-ler destroys all the forest,  his factory goes out of business, and the animals leave. Now here is the important plot point I forgot to go over: The mayor of  Thneedville Mr. O'Hare (Rob Riggle) is watching Ted. So after The Once-ler finnishes his story he tells Ted to take a Truffula seed and plant it in the town. So Ted takes the seed to his home but O'Hare finds him and there is a chase to get the seed. Wait...a climactic Chase scene involving a plant...that's a scene in Wall-E. Anyway they plant the seed (and sing a song) defeat O'Hare and years later the forest regrows just the way it was before...just like in Wall-E. Nonetheless The End.

                                   ***SPOILERS OVER KEEP READING***

This movie is...well the stuff in the book like the plot and characters from the book works. But some characters and certain plot points either unnessesary or reused from other films. Also the songs range from tolerable to drive my brother crazyable. The young Once-Ler is such a product of the times.. That's all I have to say you might like it but you might not. Oh by the way I am reviewing E.T. or The Muppets next (depending on which I watch first)
