Secret of NIMH 2: Timmy to the Rescue

OK so I never reveal my thoughts of a movie too early on but, today I will let you know that this movie is bad. I mean it is a sequel to The Secret of NIMH and the main character isn't Mrs. Brisby and instead it's Timmy who if you don't remember didn't exactly do much in the first movie. So lets see if it's really as bad I'm saying. This is Secret of NIMH 2.

The movie opens with a narrator explaining the events of the first movie and saying that there is a prophesy that a son of Johnathan Brisby will save Thorn Valley. By the way if you're wondering, no one ever mentioned a prophesy in the first movie. The movie opens with Timmy (Andrew Ducote) playing with his older brother Martin (Phillip Glasser). After that they go home to their mother Mrs. Brisby (Debi Mae West) who is sending Timmy off to Thorn Valley so that he can become the hero (even though he hasn't done much). So Jeremy the Crow (Dom DeLuise) gives Timmy a lift to Thorn Valley where he is hailed as a great hero (even though he has done absolutely nothing). Mr. Ages (Arthur Malet) and Justin (William H Macy)  train him. Timmy sets a trap for a snake but Mr. Ages is unimpressed because he said that there was no threat even though the snake defiantly wanted to eat some rodents. So Timmy decides to speed up the becoming a hero process via musical montage, so yeah now Timmy is 17 (and voiced by Ralph Macchio) and Mr. Ages and Justin decide to finally give him something to do.

So the job they give him is to blow a whistle if he sees danger. Wait, let me get this straight, the rats of NIMH treat Timmy like a hero for doing nothing and when he gets a job they tell him to blow a whistle. While on watch Timmy meets another mouse named Jenny (Hynden Walsh) who claims to be from NIMH. Jenny says that her parents are stuck in NIMH and she was sent to get help. So Mr. Ages and Justin decide not to help and not only that but they decide that Jenny can't be allowed to leave because........pineapples. Jenny tells Timmy that NIMH is run by an evil scientist named Dr. Valentine (Steve Mackall) and Jenny tells Timmy that Martin is in there and Timmy says that he got a letter from Mrs. Brisby years ago saying that Martin went missing. So wait, Timmy finds out his brother goes missing and he doesn't tell Mr. Ages or Justin? Well that doesn't sound smart. Jenny and Timmy escape Thorn Valley and find Jiminy Cricket's unpopular cousin Cecil Caterpillar (Meshach Taylor) who takes them to The Great Owl. Except it isn't the great owl it's Jeremy who teamed up with Cecil to con people out of money.....I don't know Jeremy isn't really a criminal type. So Jenny and Timmy convince Jeremy to take them to the headquarters of NIMH.

Timmy and Jenny go into NIMH but it turns out all the scientists have been hypnotized to think they are dogs....wait what? It also turns out Dr. Valentine is making an army of evil rats...OK this is getting weird. So they go into a big room and it is revealed that Dr. Valentine is not the one behind this it is.....Martin (now voiced by Eric Idle) ?  OK how does that work? Apparently Martin got jealous of Timmy for being the hero everyone loves and when he was captured by NIMH he took it over. Oh and then he starts singing a song that is....your worst night mares and a big bowl of Lucky Charms cereal. So after he sings Jenny and Timmy somehow set the place on fire but Timmy finds in his heart to take Martin back to Thorn Valley. So Martin is reformed, Timmy and Jenny are in love, and Timmy defended Thorn Valley from evil just as it was foretold....wait the only reason that Martin wanted to destroy Thorn Valley is because of the Prophesy in the first place...so the valley wouldn't be in danger if there was no prophesy...I hate this movie. The End

This movie is awful. The songs are either horribly written or horribly sung (or in some cases both), the animation is nowhere near as good as the original, and Mrs. Brisby is barely in it and she was the main character in the first one. I can not think of anything I like about this. This is a bad follow up to a good movie. All I have to say is I hope the next movie I review is better than this. See you next...wait It's October, that means I have to review scary movies (evil laughter).
